  • Emphasis will also be on Sruti, Layam, Pronunciation/Tone
  • Students of Inter-Stage 3 will be required to attain knowledge of any one of the other disciplines as ancillary subject.     
  • Students of Stage 3 will also be assigned to write an essay of given topic not exceeding 2000 words as part of examination

Raga Lakshanam  

Questions based on/relating to the items chosen for the concert

 In addition, students of this level& stage will do a project carrying 100 marks.

Kalpana Swaram for a minimum of 2 items out of which one should be other than Samam       

Ragam Tanam Pallavi     

Other compositions          

Theory :      Separate Theory Paper on:-

Questions based on/relating to the items chosen for the concert

In addition, students of this level& stage will do a project carrying 100 marks - emphasis on creative elements of music. Original contribution of the candidate will have weightage.

 Perfection with Talam:  

Execution of Adi talam and fitting in the (Drum syllables (Sol) with the Talam. Emphasis on speed tramnsition from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd speed in Chatusra Gati.

Ability to execute Tala while someone recites the Sol exercise/lessons. 

Theory :    

35 Talas with angas, Mohras 

Emphasis on Layam, Skill - Intutive & acquired, Tone/Posture

Oral Execution with Talam incl simple Tisra gati

Thadinginathoms.

  • Seven Thakadimis followed by a Thadinginathom recited thrice followed by six Thakadimis and ending with a Thadinginathoms to land on Samam.
  • Fitting in basic Nadai patterns in the 4 talas – Adi, Rupakam, Misra Chapu & Khanda Chapu.

 Theory :    

  • Suladi Sapta Talas with angas, Arudhis, Mohra-Korvai for 2 talas.
  • Basic listening skills.   
  • Emphasis on Layam, Skill - Intuitive & acquired.
  • Tone/speed/technique.

Detailed understanding of Tala, Idam & Gati.    

Accompaniment to

  • A Pancharatnam/ Varnam/Thillana &
  • Accompaniment to a Kriti with Kalpana Swaras

Theory :        

  • Calculation in mathras for any talam incl. Thiruppugazh talas,
  • Constructing Arudhis mainly for Samam and also for simple Idam , 
  • Fabricating a Periya Mohra for the 35 talas.
  • Ability to tune/ Gumki/Tone/speed/technique.    
  • Emphasis on Layam, Skill - Intuitive & acquired.           
  • In addition, students of this level& stage will do a project carrying 50 marks.
